I am very excited to be the new principal of Clarksville Middle School. I have been dedicated to the field of education for 25 years as a teacher, leadership intern, and assistant principal. My educational journey began in Norfolk, Virginia where I discovered my passion for teaching middle school students. Upon graduating from Old Dominion University with my Master’s Degree in Education, I began teaching in the Norfolk Public School System. Making the decision to move back to Maryland, I spent one year in the Anne Arundel County School System. Subsequent to my time there, I joined the Howard County School System where I have remained for the past 20 years. My tenure in Howard County started as an English/Reading teacher and team leader at Patuxent Valley Middle School. As a result of the many leadership opportunities provided to me early in her career, I decided to further my education in administration. I earned a Graduate Certificate in School Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. My leadership journey continued at Dunloggin Middle School, Hammond Middle School, and Lime Kiln Middle where I served as the Assistant Principal. With each new journey, my most important role has been to make decisions that are best for all student success. I believe strongly in community building and restorative practices. I prioritize building positive relationships with students, staff, and families. I am elated to be named the Principal of Clarksville Middle School and is excited to work with such a dynamic staff. I am ready to collaborate with all stakeholders as a partner in education in order to ensure the social emotional well-being and academic success of all students. I look forward to watching every student at Clarksville ignite their personal genius!

Kim Scaife

Kim Scaife Assistant Principal Kim_Scaife@hcpss.org
Originally from upstate New York, I have spent the majority of my career in Maryland. I began teaching in Queen Anne’s County, MD and New York State as a special education teacher. I transitioned to middle school when I came to Howard County and taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade reading and English Language Arts at Patapsco Middle School. I then served as a leadership intern at Elkridge Landing Middle School before becoming an assistant principal at Burleigh Manor Middle School for five years. I am honored to now be a part of the Clarksville Middle School community and look forward to continuing the progress and gains that we have made as a school. I believe in building strong relationships with staff, students, and families and I work hard to ensure that all members of the school community feel included and heard. I believe that middle school is a time of immense growth and development for students and I work to ensure that students are receiving the instruction, opportunities, and social-emotional support that they need while in the school environment. In partnership with Ms. Smith, I look forward to continuing our work at Clarksville Middle School. Please do not hesitate to contact me at Kim_Scaife@hcpss.org with any questions, concerns, or support that you or your child may need.
