CMS Summer Updates and Information

August 12, 2020

Greeting CMS Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer and staying healthy.  We are busy preparing to welcome our students for another school year.  These are unconventional times, but we are committed to supporting our students academically as well as their social-emotional development.

Time is moving along and in a little over two weeks we will be welcoming the CMS staff back.  We are excited to begin preparation for engaging instruction for our students.  We will tweet welcome messages from the staff as we prepare for the first day of school for students.  Follow us on Twitter @hcpss_cms.

Ms. Smith and Mrs. Scaife

Summer Grab and Go  Meals Extended to Aug. 28:

The free Grab-N-Go summer meals program has been extended through  Friday, August 28. There were several location changes effective Monday, August 3.

Free and Reduced Meals Program:

The coronavirus pandemic is causing a lot of hardship for many of our friends and neighbors. Many HCPSS families have been impacted financially by the pandemic, and may be eligible now to receive benefits through the Free and Reduced Price Meals (FARMs) program. Qualifying families can take advantage of a wide range of additional resources and discounts, including testing fees, tuition, internet and more. Click here to learn more or to apply.

HCPSS Chromebook Update:

Every student entering grades pre-kindergarten through 8 will be provided with a Chromebook. Details will be communicated as soon as they are available. Any student who borrowed a Chromebook for spring or summer learning may continue to use that device during the 2020-2021 school year.

It's Time to Update Your Student's 2020-2021 Family File

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect and selecting the Family File tab on the left and then clicking on Family File. Once logged in, you will be asked to update or provide the following information:

  • Student Information

  • Parent/Guardian Contact

  • Emergency Contacts

  • Medical Information

  • Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

  • Photo Approval

  • Data Confidentiality

  • PTA/PTSA Directory

Changes of address may not be made through Family File. If you have recently moved, please contact your child’s new school as soon as possible. As we are preparing for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year, it is imperative that we have accurate addresses on file for all of our students. If you have moved, and have not provided us with your updated information, we ask that you email the following documents to Mrs. Jo Anne Norton, Student Service Secretary at Jo_Anne_Norton@hcpss.org

Please complete a change of address form - Click here to download PDF fillable version

You will also need to send in the following:

  • A deed or deed of trust that has all required signatures or an original lease with all required signatures

  • A current bill for cable television, non-cellular telephone, or gas and electric.

Changes of address may not be made through Family File. If you have recently moved, please contact Mrs. Jo Anne Norton, Student Service Secretary at Jo_Anne_Norton@hcpss.org.  as soon as possible, and we will be happy to assist you.
