Student Materials Drop Off Updates!!

Mon, 08/17/2020 - 2:43pm

We will be having families of current 7th, 8th, and 9th graders drop off items on Thursday, August 20, 2020 through Monday, August 24, 2020. Items must be labeled and specific traffic patterns will be followed (see the map below and attached). If your student left materials at CMS at the end of the spring they may pick them up at this time.

In all aspects of this process, we need to do everything possible to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every student, staff member, and family. The below guidelines need to be followed when picking up or dropping off items:

  • Students and families must remain in their cars and adhere to social distancing throughout this process.

  • Staff, students, and family members must wear masks.

  • Staff, students, and family members must remain at least 6 feet apart at all times.

  • Students and families will not be allowed entry into the school building for any reason.

  • To help expedite the process, the student's last name should be written on an 8x11 piece of paper and placed on the front dash of the car or held up as the student/parent approaches the check-in, so that it will be visible to staff.

  • Items to be returned to CMS must be placed in a plastic/shopping/grocery bag or box labeled with the student’s first and last name (the bag/box will not be returned).

  • Include a CMS Returned Book/ Materials Form in the bag. This form can either be printed and filled in, or this information can simply be written on a sheet of paper.

  • Families must follow the directions of staff as they enter the school driveway.

Does your child have items from last school year that need to be returned?

Most students may have novels from their ELA class, some have media center books, and others have instruments and other items. Please encourage your child to gather those items as it’s time to return them!  These items need to be collected next week to give us time to prepare for the distribution of new materials for the 2020-21 school year.

Who should return items?

We are collecting items that belong to Clarksville Middle, so only students who attended Clarksville Middle last year should return items.  We will not take responsibility for items returned to us that belong to another HCPSS school.

What items should be returned?

●  Instruments:

  • If your child has an instrument that belongs to Clarksville Middle and will remain in band/orchestra this upcoming school year at Clarksville Middle he/she should keep the instrument.

  • If your child is not returning to Clarksville Middle this school year, instruments should be returned.

●  Chromebooks (laptops)

  • If your child has a Chromebook and will remain in HCPSS (at CMS or any HCPSS school) this upcoming school year, he/she should keep the Chromebook.

  • If your child is not returning to HCPSS this school year, Chromebooks should be returned.

●  Books and other items:

  • All books, ELA novels, and media center books that belong to Clarksville Middle should be returned.

  • Any other items that belong to Clarksville Middle should be returned.

What if my child did not attend Clarksville Middle last year and has materials to return?

We can only accept items from CMS.  If you have items from another HCPSS school (elementary or middle), you will need to return those items to the school your child attended last year.

Materials must be returned to the school they were borrowed from (i.e. the student’s 2019-2020 school). It is up to the discretion of each HCPSS school to set collection and distribution dates. All materials returned will sit for a four-day period as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention prior to being inventoried. If your child attended a different school last year, please  view their collection plan. If your child attended our school last year, our collection plan is as follows:

What safety precautions are in place to protect families and school staff during drop-off?

During the drop-off process, it is critical that students and families maintain all social distancing practices, wear masks, and remain in their cars at all times. If walking to the school, you must wear a mask while on school property and ensure proper social distancing from staff members. We ask that everyone follows the directions of the staff members present during drop off to ensure everyone's safety.

At the different stations, a staff member will provide student belongings/collect any school items. Each family will travel through the stations during this process.
