JumpStart program for the 2018-2019 school year

HCPSS has announced an innovative program that enables students to earn up to 60 college credits while in high school. Offered in partnership with Howard Community College (HCC), JumpStart is designed to give students a valuable head start in earning a college degree or preparing for a career at a greatly reduced cost.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 2017-18 Essay Contest

The Howard County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission will host their Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration on Sunday, January 14, 2018, 2:00pm at Reservoir High School. The event theme this year is: "If I cannot do great things, I will do small things in a great way." Middle and high school students are encouraged to participate in this essay contest. The essay question this year is: "How do you translate Dr. King's vision in today's times?" Students are invited to write an essay about what small things they are doing that might contribute towards a greater cause and what they envision themselves doing in the future to keep Dr. King's dream alive. Students with disabilities are encouraged to submit their essays using other media types to portray their ideas.

PTA Book Fair November 20th - December 1st

The CMS media center will be the book fair retail establishment from November 20th - December 1st. We need a lot of CMS parents to volunteer to make this successful. It is great way to volunteer at the middle school during the school day, please use this link and sign up for a shift.

A Half-Day Workshop for Parents and Professionals, December 4th

Open to CMS parents and professionals. Experts in the field of neurodevelopment and neuroscience will explore brain-based learning across settings including the classroom, social media, and video gaming. Examine attention, learning, and other self-regulatory differences. Evidence-based strategies to support individuals in and beyond high school will be offered.
